Important Information

Inclement Weather School Schedules

Abbreviated Day:
Should weather conditions or other issues require a shortened school day, the following applies:

• The abbreviated day schedule is a shortened school day that begins 2 hours later than the regular schedule but ends at regular time.
• The school day will be 10:52 a.m. – 3:40 p.m.  This applies to Wednesdays as well.
• Morning Pre-School will be cancelled on an abbreviated day.
• Announcement will be made through local news media no later than 5:30 a.m.
• Note:  should conditions worsen and school is cancelled, an announcement will be made no later than 8:00 a.m. through the local news media.

School Cancellation:  Should weather conditions or other factors necessitate cancelling school, an announcement will be made no later than 8:00 a.m. through the local news media.

Early Dismissal:
If severe weather conditions develop during the school day and a decision is made to dismiss early, KANW (89.1 FM) and commercial radio stations will be contacted to inform the community.

The new daily bell schedule for the 2009-2010 school year is:
    8:51  Warning bell
    8:53  Classes begin
    3:40  Dismissal time for Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
  12:30  Dismissal on Wednesday

2nd Annual Dennis Chavez Elementary Jog-A-Thon

The Jog-A-Thon will be held on Wednesday, March 3rd. Every child gets to run. This healthy fundraiser benefits the PTA Capital Improvement Fund. For more details, click here.

H1N1 Vaccine - Second Dose

The second dose of H1N1 for kids under 10 will be on Thursday, March 11th. You should already know if this applies to your child. If you have questions, please contact the school nurse, Janine Maydew
