Farewell from Kathy Alexander
Dear Dennis Chavez Parents and Students,
Thank you so much for allowing me to have the privilege of working with you, and for you, during my eleven years as principal of our school. Together we have weathered construction, new curriculum, and children growing up. You have enriched my life by being part of the Dennis Chavez community. I look forward to hearing about the continued success of our school and of your children.
I am now the principal at Hoover Middle School. It will be an exciting and challenging adventure (with really big kids!!).
Thank you for the wonderful memories, the incredible support and your willingness to work with me to create an outstanding elementary school. My eyes are already turned toward the future but I am leaving part of my heart behind with all of you.

First Day of School for 2008-2009
The first day of school for 1st - 5th graders is Tuesday, August 12th. Kindergarten classes will have a Meet the Teacher Open House on Tuesday, August 12th and the first day of class will be Wednesday, August 13th. Check back for updates.

New Student Registration for 2008-2009
If you need to register a student who will be attending Dennis Chavez ES for the 2008-2009 school year, please call 821-1810 and leave a message with your name and number. We will call you back and set up a time to meet you at school with proof of residency (utility bill with your name on it), shot records and birth certificate to register. Open registration will be August 7-8.
